Day 5

Subject: [firstname]: Cast your bread upon the waters

Hey [firstname]!

It's perfectly OK to blow your own trumpet when you want to become an influencer in your niche. You'll need to prove that you know what you're talking about, and the best way to do that is to share your knowledge freely.

Posting regularly on both your blog and on your chosen social media channels will get you noticed. It's a good idea to hang out on forum sites to get an idea of what people are talking about, then come up with your own angle and share that with your readers – essentially answering their questions before they ask them.

It's also essential that you listen to your audience and provide the knowledge they're seeking. You don't just want them to regard you as an expert in your niche. You want them to regard you as THE leading authority in your niche and the go-to guy or go-to gal when they want information.

To that end, it's a good idea to hold Q & A sessions via your blog, or host webinars. These can be done at little or no cost to you, and you can encourage attendance by making access free.

Of course, the number one way to be regarded as an authority figure and expert in your niche is to write a book. These days it's easier than ever. You can get your book published on Amazon.com, give away review copies, get feedback and establish your reputation that way. It doesn't even have to be a physical, printed book. A downloadable PDF e-book or Kindle edition can do just as good a job. You can also record yourself reading your book and either sell it or give it away as a podcast.

The key here is to PROVE that you know what you're talking about. People will then start paying you for your knowledge, but you should continue to give information away for free as well.

Talk soon!
